DOMESTIC AND LOCAL PRODUCTS

Once, every inhabitant of Vrbnik was engaged in sheep farming for family needs. Ivan Toljanić, his sons-in-law Ivan Brusić and Mladen Toljanić, and their families had sheep farms totaling around one hundred and fifty sheep. Over the years, the number of sheep has greatly diminished with the rise of wild boars and jackals. Furthermore, with the growth of the Gospoja company, the families of Ivan Toljanić, Ivan Brusić, and Mladen Toljanić no longer had time to dedicate to sheep farming, to the point of having almost none left.

Recently, the Toljanić and Brusić families have decided to restart sheep farming, aiming to reach the numbers of the past. Fences have been erected around the pastures to protect the animals from predators and allow them to graze freely. Over time, they also began raising cows, enabling them to sell their beef in restaurants. Currently, lamb meat production does not meet the needs of the Gospoja restaurants, so the company purchases high-quality meat from local suppliers to maintain the offering. Since its inception, Mladen Toljanić, one of the owners of the family-run Gospoja, has long been a critical figure in wine production, the company's main activity. Now, with full support, he steps aside and transfers knowledge to the younger generations, dedicating himself to farming, thus maintaining the family tradition and highlighting its importance in the Gospoja company's business.
